UGREEN Super Power Block 67W Fast Charging Power Bank Teardown

The casing is initially opened along the seam. The shell is made of PC+ABS flame-retardant plastic. Foam padding is attached inside for impact protection of the battery cells.

The other part of the casing houses the PCBA module and the battery pack composed of four 21700 cells. The individual cell voltage sense wires are connected via a socket.

The PCBA module uses a two-board design. The lower board is fixed with screws. The battery pack is connected to the upper board via spot-welded nickel strips.

The battery cell voltage sense wires are soldered to the cells with nickel strips and secured with high-temperature resistant insulating tape. A thermistor for monitoring cell temperature is also visible and fixed with adhesive.

The battery pack and PCBA module are removed. The other half of the casing contains plastic partitions and support plates to secure the battery pack.

A small magnet is embedded in the side of the casing to attract and secure the built-in USB-C cable connector. High-quality insulating paper is also applied, showing attention to detail.

The solder joints of the built-in USB-C cable cores and the pin headers connecting the two boards are reinforced with adhesive for protection.
A cushioning pad is placed at the bottom of the battery pack, with high-quality insulating paper around the edges.
The battery pack consists of four 21700 lithium-ion cells, all with the same part number.
Close-up of the cell markings. Model: INR21700-5000, from SunPower (Changhong Sanjie). Nominal voltage 3.6V, nominal capacity 5000mAh, energy 18Wh, charge limit voltage 4.2V. Certified by CCC and CE.
The top side of the upper PCB board features a lithium battery protection IC and protection MOSFETs. A balancing circuit is located in the top right area.
The other side features pin header sockets on both sides.
The battery protection IC is from iCM Creatic, model CM1341-FKT. This is a dedicated protection chip for 4-series Li-ion/LiFePO4 batteries. It includes high-precision voltage detection and current detection circuits.
By monitoring the voltage of each cell, charge/discharge current, and temperature, it enables protection functions including overcharge, over-discharge, balancing, wire break, low-voltage charge disable, discharge overcurrent, short circuit, charge overcurrent, and over-temperature protection. The discharge overcurrent protection delay is adjustable via an external capacitor; other protection delays are built-in.
The lithium battery protection MOSFETs are from AGMsemi, model AGM308AP. NMOS, 30V rating, 6.2mΩ Rds(on), in PDFN3.3*3.3 package.

The other board’s front side features the buck-boost inductor, filter solid capacitors, thermistor, digital display, power button, etc. Capacitors and inductors are reinforced with adhesive.
The other side features two power bank SOC chips, buck-boost switching MOSFETs, and VBUS switch MOSFETs for the ports.
The battery-side filter solid capacitors are from TK (Toko), specification 25V 100μF.
The main power bank SOC chip is from Injoinic, model IP5385. This is the first fast charging power bank SOC chip integrating the UFCS fusion fast charging protocol. It integrates QC2.0/QC3.0/SCP/UFCS output fast charging protocols, AFC/FCP input/output fast charging protocols, TYPE-C PD2.0/PD3.0 input/output protocols, TYPE-C PD3.0 PPS output protocol, and is compatible with BC1.2 and Apple devices. It combines a synchronous bidirectional buck-boost converter, lithium battery charge management, battery level indicator, and other multi-functional power management into a single SOC. It provides a complete power solution for fast charging power banks.
IP5385 can simultaneously support USB-A x2, USB-C x3 (total three USB ports), and one Lightning port. Any single port can support fast charging. When two or more output ports are used simultaneously, only 5V input/output is supported. Thanks to the high integration and rich features of IP5385, very few external components are required in application. Only one inductor is needed to achieve the bidirectional buck-boost function, effectively reducing the overall solution size and BOM cost.
IP5385 supports 2~4 series cells. The synchronous switching buck-boost system can provide up to 65W input and output power. It automatically enters sleep mode under light load conditions.
The four paired synchronous buck-boost switching MOSFETs are all AGM404AP1 from AGMsemi. These are NMOS, rated 40V, 4.4mΩ Rds(on), in PDFN3.3*3.3 package.

The other power bank SOC chip also uses the Injoinic IP5385.
The four paired synchronous buck-boost switching MOSFETs also use AGM404AP1.
The cores of the two buck-boost inductors are reinforced with adhesive and insulated with heat-shrink tubing.
The filter solid capacitor for the built-in USB-C cable side is from TK, specification 25V 100μF.
The E-Marker chip for the built-in USB-C cable is placed on a small board. It’s marked 332D, actual model HUSB332D from Hynetek. This is Hynetek’s latest USB Type-C electronic marker chip (USB eMarker). It supports USB Type-C Specification 2.2, USB Power Delivery Specification 3.1, USB4 2.0 specification, and Thunderbolt 3/4 specifications. It also supports the USB PD3.1 EPR (Extended Power Range). The HUSB332D has passed USB-IF certification, TID: 9125.
Information on Hynetek’s HUSB332D.
The filter solid capacitor at the USB-C port is also from TK, specification 25V 100μF.
